Health insurance
U.S. health insurance. Help in Polish, briefings in English.
We help Polish-American families understand, pick, and enroll in the right health coverage. Whether your parent is 65+ or your sibling is freelancing, there's a path that fits, and we'll find it together.
The U.S. health insurance system, briefly
The U.S. doesn't have a single national health-insurance system. Which coverage someone is eligible for depends mostly on their age, employment, and income.
The three most common paths:
- Employer coverage: when a job offers a group plan, usually a strong option for people under 65.
- Medicare, the federal program for people 65+ and certain people with disabilities.
- ACA Marketplace (Obamacare), individual plans for people without employer coverage, with subsidies based on income.
We help your family figure out which group applies and pick a plan that covers your parent's doctors and medications.
Is your parent 65, or close to it?
Then we're probably talking about Medicare. It's the federal health-insurance program everyone qualifies for at 65 (along with some younger people with qualifying conditions).
We help through the entire process, explaining Parts A, B, C, and D in Polish for your parent, verifying their doctors are in network, walking through the enrollment paperwork, and reviewing the plan each year.
Is your parent under 65 (or are you)?
Then we're probably talking about ACA Marketplace (also called Obamacare), unless there's employer coverage.
ACA plans are available to everyone, regardless of health history. Depending on income, there may be significant federal subsidies that lower the monthly premium. We can check what subsidies you qualify for and help pick a plan in your state.
This work is handled by our sister site ObamaCare Hotline, run by the same team.
Question about keeping employer coverage?
This comes up often, especially around 65 or during job changes. Sometimes the employer plan is better; sometimes switching to Medicare or an ACA plan makes more sense. It depends on your parent's doctors, medications, income, and retirement timing.
A short call lets us compare the options and help your family make an informed decision.
